Very Merry Christmas!

For Christmas, Paul bought me the Dave Barnes Christmas CD...which I love! The CD is called "Very Merry Christmas" and I have not turned it off since I received it about a month ago.

I have not turned it off. Not once. In a month.

We now know the CD by heart and last night on our way home, Paul said "You know...I'm looking forward to listening to something else once Christmas is over....".

I might have overdone it with the Christmas tunes...but 'tis the season!
Anyway....We hope you had a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS...or I suppose a Merry Christmas would have been sufficent!

PS: It's too bad I decided to take a nap during our only Christmas photo session!

BRB...

Be. Right. Back.

Sorry for the negligent blogging lately. We've been doing 1 of 2 things over the last 19 days since our last post...
1) Shoveling snow
2) Eating Christmas cookies

We're hoping they counter-act eachother!

We've got a little time off in the next couple weeks and I'm hoping to give you a better update then!

Sorry...will you accept this funny YouTube video in exchange for your patience?

I could totally see Paul & I doing this one day... "Got my pride in the ride!" (Nice work, Toyota!)

Where credit is due...

Long before our wedding, I decided I would write a series of blog posts afterward about the details and the people who helped make them happen....

This one is about my friend Natalie.

Natalie and I went to college and played basketball together! She's not only a sweet, kind-hearted person but she's really talented as well! She did my hair for our wedding (which I LOVED) and she also made hair clips for each of my bridesmaids and one of my nieces - the only flower girl with enough hair to hold a clip (Sorry Claire...someday!)

Here's one of the hair clips that Natalie made for the girls.

Thanks for modeling it, Gina!

Here's a couple shots of my hair as Natalie did some finishing touches!

(Note how cool her hair is!)

Natalie works at Juut Salon and has already gotten quite the reputation for making 'do's that get noticed! She's competing in a national hair show soon and I'm confident she'll do awesome!

If you're looking for a stylist in the Twin Cities, I would suggest her to anyone! In fact, she just did my hair last Friday...shorter and darker! I love it!

Thanks Natalie for all you did for our wedding! We owe you!

Thank God It's Black Friday!

Good Morning! I write this to you at just after 5am!

Why, you ask...

Today, I partook in my very first "crack o' dawn Black Friday shopping fest"...and to be honest, it wasn't too bad.

My schedule so far today:
3:00am: Rrrrrring! Alarm goes off, as I stagger downstairs....groggy and begin to put my....
3:15am: Warm clothes on, coffee in hand and out the door into the cold only to....
3:25am: Arrive in the Sear's parking lot with wish list in hand and head over to be....
3:35am: First in line at the door with my running shoes on ready to...
4:00am: Run (yes, I said run) through the Sear's door and to the Home Appliance section just in time to....
4:01am: Hurl my body on top of most desired washer, dryer and above-the-range microwave
(....ok, I made that part up, but the idea really did cross my mind!)
4:20am: Head to the check out (hooray!) and....
4:30am: Price out a couple treadmills in the Fitness section on my way...
4:40am: Back to the car....feeling pretty great about myself as I drive back home to....
4:50am: Crawl in bed with my snoring husband...which doesn't last long until I'm...
5:00am: On the recliner blogging!

To be honest, that's my kind of shopping....early, competitive, big deals...and back in bed within 2 hours! When will this lack of sleep hit me today? (You may begin placing bets now.)

If you're venturing out to shop today...good luck!

Happy Thanksgiving All!

What happens in Vegas...

...gets posted on our blog! (Sorry Treds!)

Show us how you feel about being in Vegas...

Matt = creepily excited

Paul = super creepily excited

Amber = tired? JK, maybe scandelous?!?!

Kendra = thirsty!

What? You thought marriage and children would mature us?!?! Good one!
In keeping with the Vegas tradition, I won't say much more...but we did have a good time!

**Don't ask what Paul & I are doing in this photo...it's from a tv show "put your hands on top of mine"...again, we think we're funny!
Enjoy your week,

Family Photos on the Farm

A couple weekends ago, we got together with my family and took a "surprise photo shoot" for my mom and dad! My mom had been wanting family photos on the farm for quite some time but it's been pretty difficult to schedule with so many of us involved! I'm so glad this worked out!

Here's a sneak peak:

My Big Czech Family!

Sisters (...and Kara & Eric's baby boy!)

Paul & Kendra - 5 months married!

We just flew home tonight from our long weekend in Las Vegas! No big winnings, but much fun was had! More to come on that later!

Almost famous...

Friday, October 29, 2010

A little bit of landscaping.

Paul & I were interested in increasing the size of our yard...

so we rented an excavator and...

...demo'd the neighbor's house...

OR....

...maybe the city finally stepped in and knocked down the house next door that had suffered a fire over NINE MONTHS AGO!

Regardless of how it happened and/or who gets credit for it- we have a gaping hole next door...which, of course, leaves us wondering....

What's worse? A half burned down house or a gaping hole?

The only good part is that, indeed, progress is being made. We like progress. We are now, obviously, hoping that some super cool people decide to buy the lot, build a gorgeous house (but not more gorgeous that ours), put in a pool and maybe have us over every weekend in summer for pool parties, guacamole and margaritas....OR we could stop it at "super cool people" and we'd still be happy campers!

Paul & I are looking forward to handing out candy to our neighborhood trick or treaters again this year. We're hoping that last year we helped establish ourselves in the neighborhood's top 10 ranking of "The Coolest Houses to Stop At This Halloween"....if there is such a thing. I'm just assuming there is.

Following the advice of the Snicker's advertisements, we plan to have plenty on hand....

So creepy it's funny, right?

Hopefully we get to see all of our little stinkers (nieces and nephews) in their Halloween costumes this weekend too! If so, you can rest assured more pictures will be coming!

Trick or Treat,

Goodbye Green. Hello Red.

Yesterday was Wednesday but sadly, our CSA deliveries are over for the year...sniff, sniff. No fresh vegetables waiting on the stoop. No crisp apples or juicy watermelons either. Now what?

Let's look back on the "good old days" (2 weeks ago or so) to the last delivery AND CSA Day At The Farm in Northfield!

Wagon ride with my niece, Madison & baby Mason!

Our nephew, Brady, shoveling corn!

"American Gothic" - Madison & Brady style!

The LAST CSA delivery for the year...

A sink full o' fun!
To end on a happier note...I just checked our stoop and a good friend (who works at a wine distributor) just dropped off a box full of bottles of RED wine!
What? Wine is made of fruit!
Stay healthy,
K+P

It's a bird, it's a plane...

It's Grandpa Dennis!

A couple weeks ago, we were able to watch Paul's dad as he went skydiving for the first time ever!
It was pretty cool to witness!

Good work, Dennis!

Too few cooks in the kitchen...

It's true. At our house, I cook...and no one else. I like to think that Paul leaves the cooking to me because I'm so good at it...but those of you who know me know that I don't follow recipes and as a result can sometimes end up putting an "interesting" dinner on the table.

Exhibit A: Homemade Lara Bars
Delicious store bought version

Crumbly, Ok-tasting homemade version
Sadly, store bought version won this battle.

Exhibit B: Eggplant quiche-like-lasagna-ish-bake
...obviously topped with oodles of cheese! This was only "okay". I am the only one in the house who would eat it and obviously, it seemed to last forever! (to be honest, I mostly picked it apart and ate the ricotta/sauce mixture and ditched the eggplant.) It looks WAY better than it tasted...unfortunately!
Exhibit C: The beginning of a Curry Vegetable Soup
Sorry, forgot to take "after" pics of this....but I've been eating it everyday for lunch. It was "just ok" so I bought a container of curry flavored sauce and added it...the final result was much better after that. (This is what I do when the CSA vegetables start coming in faster than we can consume them....voila! Garbage Disposal Soup!
After reading this blog, you're probably wondering WHY Paul doesn't cook more often....yeah, me too!
(Obviously, I throw in a few yummy dishes here and there too...just to keep him guessing!)
Catch ya later!

So, did that garage ever get finished or what?!?!

Oh! Why, yes it did. (I just forgot to tell you...sorry!)

It's done! We love it...same reliable shelter for our cars but with a whole new, sleek look. All the other garages in the neighborhood are now jealous.

We're done with projects for this year. Well, that's not true....I might tackle putting new bed skirts on the beds this weekend. Does that count?!?!

Paul & I had a very sporty week! We spent Sunday afternoon at the Vikings game. I don't remember who we played....I go for the beer....I mean ambience! Either way, we lost...but it was really fun...I think. (KIDDING!) Tuesday night, we went to the Twins vs.....(why do I even try?) game. It was an awesome game because we won! AND our win sealed the deal....We are now 1st in our division....or is it conference? Ok, that's enough about sports.** Let's talk about babies...

We have new baby boys all around us....congrats to our friends & family who brought them home. A bunch of heartbreakers, I tell ya!

This weekend, I'm running the "Women Run the Twin Cities 10 Mile" which scares the $&%! out of me. You see, most people would train for a race like this. I did.....last night. I don't think it ever hit me when I registered that the race day would actually come. Oh, it finally HIT me about yesterday, so I hit the gym last night to do a "quick training session". I ran 5 miles last night....which is still 5 miles less than what I've voluntarily signed up to run in 2 short days. I'm a bonehead, but I WILL do it. Paul is coming (and bringing a medic kit!) so we'll see how that goes...
Tomorrow starts the Rasmusson Family Birthday Streak. Paul's sister Megan has a birthday tomorrow....shortly followed by Mr. Joey....then it just continues right on through November! This year, Paul & I will be celebrating our "3 From 30" birthdays. Paul turns 33 and shortly after I turn 27. Yes, we think we're clever.
What about all that rain?!?! Sheesh! Hope everyone is staying afloat!

Well...it's date night, so I better go get ready for my hot date....now, where did I put my flannel pants and oversized t-shirt?!?!
K+P
**I feel I must rationalize my lacking sports knowledge. I am a jock. I really am. I've played sports for as long as I can remember....softball, basketball, track, volleyball, you name it. I even played basketball all through college. I like to PLAY sports. I don't like watching sports on tv. I don't follow sports teams (much to my husband's chagrin) BUT I do like to go to sports games....just don't expect me to know what the final score was OR obviously, who we played. Despite all of this...I do love my husband...and if he loves sports...then gosh darnit, so do I!

Oops, we did it again...

We're starting another project!

This weekend, we're tackling the garage and below are the plans - we're adding another floor, a grand stair case, a living room, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. See?

Ok - I'm kidding...we're re-siding, adding a new side door, and doing a little painting! That's it. Plain & Simple....we hope!
You can bet there will be pictures to follow!

Stay tuned...
